* Cassette Tapes: We transcribe dictation from cassette tapes (mini or standard)
DIGITAL DICTATION/TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES
* Digital Dictation using a hand-held digital recorder: When you use a hand-held digital recorder for dictation, the dictation must be uploaded from the recorder's memory to your computer's hard drive using a small cable. The file containing your dictation will be stored on your hard drive in WAV, MP3 or other sound file format. The cost of a hand-held digital recorder can run from $40 to $75 or more, depending upon the features.
* Digital Dictation using your computer and a microphone: An alternative to purchasing a hand-held digital recorder is to use a microphone plugged into your computer and a special dictation program. The dictation is saved on your computer in a sound file format i.e. WAV, MP3, etc. The cost of a voice dictation computer program can range from $30 & up. Computer microphones start at $15.
* Digital Transcription by us: Most digital dictation files are much too large to send via email. However, the sound file containing your dictation can be uploaded by you to a FREE internet site. (You will be required to download the site's FREE easy-to-install-and-use computer program.) The site will then send an email to us containing a link that will enable us to download the file to our computer for transcription.
We have the ability to transcribe the dictation (sound file) using a computer program as opposed to a cassette tape recorder. One of the many advantages of using this method for your dictation is that no matter where you are in the world, if you carry a laptop computer with you and a digital hand-held recorder or have a microphone and digital recording program and have access to an internet connection, you can dictate your material and send it to us for transcription. The completed transcription will be emailed to you.
* Telephone Call Dictation to an internet site: There are many reasonably priced conference call sites on the internet. You can call in using the telephone from anywhere in the world and dictate for as long as you like. The site will send you an email containing a link to the site where your dictation file is saved in sound file format. When a code is entered, the file will play through computer speakers. You can forward this email to us, we will click on the link and, for a nominal fee, record the dictation to a cassette tape for transcription.... OR.... many of these sites, for an additiional fee, will send a link to the sound file by email which can be downloaded from their site then transcribed by us using a computer program as described above.
We also offer a CALL-IN DICTATION SERVICE:
* Call-in Dictation: We offer a dictation service that gives our customers the ability to call in during normal work hours (upon advance notice - 24 hours a day, seven days a week), press a confidential secure mailbox number from wherever they are, then dictate for up to 45 minutes. The dictation is recorded to a computer… no tapes that will run out and need to be replaced before you can call again. If more time is needed, you can call back for another 45 minutes. Turn around time for the completed documents will depend upon when the dictation was called in, the length of time, clarity and complexity of the dictation.
However, if you are not prepared to dictate continuously... without stopping and starting... this is not the service for you. This service utilizes a computer program and if the person dictating hesitates too long, the program thinks you hung up and will disconnect.
SOUND (AUDIO) FILE TRANSCRIPTION:
* Sound Files: We have the ability to convert some sound files and sound tracks from videos recorded on CD’s or DVD’s to a format we can transcribe using a computer transcription program thus $aving you the additional time and/or cost of recording to cassette tapes first.
* Sound Files from the Internet or Videos on VCR Tape: This type of sound file must first be recorded to a cassette tape before transcribing can be done. For a nominal fee, we can do this for you then transcribe the audio file.
NOTE regarding Legal and Medical transcription: While we have a vast experience typing/transcribing legal documents such as contracts, Living Wills, Agreements, Powers of Attorney, Wills, Arbitrations, By-Laws, etc. as well as medical documents such as patient evaluations, mental health evaluations, medical research surveys, Workman's Compensation (injury) claims and patient histories, we are not Certified Legal or Medical Transcriptionists.
